This farm offers a warm welcome to visitors and asks them to keep to the marked footpaths, keep dogs on the lead and close all gates behind them.
Croasdale Farm House works with Education Access within Higher Level Stewardship Scheme. Marty has taken part in a Linking Environment & Farming (LEAF) training day and the farm's open day is associated with the LEAF Open Farm Sunday. In 2009 there were 360 visitors and £700 was raised for charity.
'It is mostly families that come, and for many this is a first chance to learn to how to read a landscape; Marty and I and the family find this pleasure in learning is a real motivation for us in our work with visitors'.
The farm is open for school and open visits in June and July; around 12-14 booked visits a year. These are usually 2 hour visits and quite often longer, especially when there is so much fun and discovery going on!
The farm has booklets to support the visits programme: 'Preparing for your farm visit' and 'Croasdale House Farm: A Working Farm for School and Group Visits'. And there is the quarterly 'Croasdale News' with updates on new arrivals ('Meet Piglet') and regular features such as 'Malcolm's Mutterings'. A new website and a facebook page called Beltingoodbeef'
